Dido, a slave on a Jamaican sugar plantation, runs away to join Henry Morgan’s privateer fleet, in search of treasure to buy her family’s freedom. Disguised as a young man, Dido encounters the ship’s captain, El Negro, a pirate with no particular yen for a lasting relationship. As they sail through the Spanish Main, plundering for treasure, Dido becomes a valued member of El Negro’s crew. What Dido doesn’t bargain for is falling in love with a pirate Captain. However, a misunderstanding ensues between Dido and her Captain and she leaves without saying goodbye. As Dido and her pirate Captain flee from the powers at hand, will they be able to find both love and freedom, together?
