SAY NO TO THE DUKE features a unique hero and heroine... I really liked both Betsy and Jeremy and found their motives for behaving the way they did to be intriguing and thought-provoking. Jeremy was the only man capable (outside of the Wildes) of realizing that Betsy completely changed her personality in view of the ton to keep from being judged to be like her adulterous mother. He suffers from PTSD and it made him a different type of hero among historical romances. Plus, I loved it when he got all growly! Both characters grew so much throughout the book as they healed themselves and each other.
There wasn't much action in this title, but the witty banter between Jeremy and Betsy and the crazy secondary characters made up for it. These aspects kept me reading just to see what the characters would say to each other and how Jeremy would convince Betsy to SAY NO TO THE DUKE .
Book Summary
One little wager will determine their fate—a daring escape or falling into temptation with a rakish lord.
Lady Betsy Wilde’s first season was triumphant by any measure, and a duke has proposed—but before marriage, she longs for one last adventure.
No gentleman would agree to her scandalous plan—but Lord Jeremy Roden is no gentleman. He offers a wager. If she wins a billiards game, he’ll provide the breeches.
If he wins…she is his, for one wild night.
But what happens when Jeremy realizes that one night will never be enough? In the most important battle of his life, he’ll have to convince Betsy to say no to the duke.
