Kelley Armstrong has crafted a unique world, a modern-day frontier-like outpost hidden in the forests of Canada. Everyone in Rockton has a secret, one they've paid quite a bit of money to hide. We've gotten to know the characters and their overall relationships in the prior books, whereas THIS FALLEN PREY jumps right into the midst of a crisis dumped on the residents by the council. Familiarity with the residents and the various alliances between the residents of Rockton, the settlers, and the hostiles will help readers better understand the depth of change that has come with the arrival of Oliver Brady.

Eric and Casey make a good team, both as law enforcement partners and in a relationship. I love the way they balance each other, especially when facing tough situations. Their Newfoundland puppy, Storm, softens both of them a bit as we see a sweeter side of them. Oliver Brady may be the worst situation they've faced yet as Rockton residents are full of anger, whether in support of Brady's innocent or guilt.

Tensions are high from the very first page of THIS FALLEN PREY and the action is unrelenting. Even faces we thought might be somewhat trustworthy are now in question as Brady throws the community into total chaos. Be prepared for the unexpected as Kelley Armstrong throws some crazy twists and turns into the storyline that will knock the breath out of you. Casey and Eric are thrown into some ethical dilemmas that require split-second decisions where their hearts don't always agree with their choices.
