Kateri Kwinault is the deputy sheriff in Virtue Falls. As the first woman to be the deputy sheriff, she knows she must do a great job to prove her capabilities. Kateri and Merida are old friends, but it has been years since they've seen each other, so she's shocked when Merida shows up in Virtue Falls. Kateri has no idea what Merida has on her mind, the revenge for what happened years earlier. Several murders are taking place in Virtue Falls, and Katerik thinks there may be a connection between them and Merida, but what could it be?

Merida also meets up with her first love, Benedict. Their love life ended right after the accident nine years ago, but Merida told one story and Benedict another. As they start to get close again, they figure out they've been told lies for all this time. What is the real reason behind all of this? Merida is baffled and rethinks her opinions of her former boyfriend.

I really enjoy all of Christina Dodd's stories, and so I was expecting the most from THE WOMAN WHO COULDN'T SCREAM. Dodd has a way of telling a story that I know once I start one of her books, I can't put it down. This story held my attention, and I was not disappointed at all. Although they are several stories going on in this book, don't worry, you won't be confused at all. I found myself inside the twisting stories, just as if I was Merida. My emotions went from sad to happy.

Dodd also writes about two friends continuing their friendship after years apart. Also, there are also two romances, both for Merida and Kateri but the romances do not take away from the mystery, which is still the main focus of THE WOMAN WHO COULDN'T SCREAM. As the fourth book in the Virtue Falls series it helps to read the previous books, but you're given enough information to understand what is happening in THE WOMAN WHO COULDN'T SCREAM. If you love mysteries and heart-pounding suspense, give this one a try.
