Only as he drags her to his capital, he discovers that he wants her for much more than her powers.

Cat knew she had the power to tell if people were lying or not, she knows she is strong, but until her travels with Griffin began she had no idea just how strong and powerful she is. She has tried very hard to be alone, safe and stay away from attachments. But her life in the circus gave her friends and people who she cares about, people who can be used against her. Now after meeting Griffin, she realizes she may have even more to lose, now the true fear beings. If her past catches up with her she could lose everything and everyone she loves.

I love this book. One of the ladies in book club told me how good it is and to read it, she was dead on. Amanda Bouchet has put out a heck of a first book. The characters are great. I love the world she creates and nothing is better than Greek Gods and Goddesses being perfectly wove into a story. The build up to the discoveries we get about her past is superbly done. Even the villain is awesome.

I highly recommend A PROMISE OF FIRE to anyone who likes fantasy of any kind. There is romance in the story, but there is so much more. Amanda Bouchet will keep you wanting more and more.
