Lark Porter finally gets the ropes on her hands to break loose. Maybe she can make her escape when the man coming in the old dilapidated trailer she's been held in for a week opens the door. But having her legs bound too makes her escape a bit difficult. Cyrus Mitchell, posing as commune guard Louis Morgan, grabs her as she tries to run. He whispers in her ear that he's friend, not foe, and gives her a key after putting handcuffs on her wrists. Cyrus comes back that night to break her free of this religious compound where she's been held captive for a week.

Lark's husband Joshua died here mysteriously three years ago and she is determined to prove it was not an accidental death, as the leader of Amos Way, the religious commune, tried to make Lark believe. Cyrus and Lark are on the run, being followed in hot pursuit by guards with tracking dogs. They narrowly escape the compound in an old car that Cyrus hotwires, but are soon being tracked down by someone else on the road. Shots are fired. Cyrus needs to get to a phone and call for backup, his HEART team that sent him to rescue Lark. Will they make it to River Fork in time to save themselves? Can Lark find the answers she needs about her husband's death and the mysterious deliveries being made at Amos Way? Can she keep her heart from falling for her rescuer?

EXIT STRATEGY is an inspirational story about finding truth and justice and having hope in our lives. Lark and Cyrus are very strong characters with a faith in God to see them through this trial. This is a story about letting God be in control of our lives instead of trying to control them ourselves, about doing what God has called us to do. HEART is a hostage rescue organization that takes on the toughest of cases that no one else will tackle. Cyrus is paying back an army buddy for saving his life with this endeavor to rescue Lark. Will he find more than he is looking for?
