QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS is an old-time love story with a time-honored plot that when you finish reading, will leave you with a smile on your face. Taryn McKenna grew up knowing her dad viewed her as an inconvenience in a marriage he was trapped in. When history began repeating itself, her dad wouldn't allow her to do what would have been right. Taryn finds out that her ex boyfriend is back in town. Taryn's highschool sweetheart, Justin, is back and the plots thickens as we find a secret has been held from him.
Combining a spunky grandmother, an army hero, and a sweet high school teacher, QUILTED By CHRISTMAS is the story of a broken high school romance that is rekindled between a hero's return, a heroine's redemption, and a grandmother's love demonstrated through an Irish chain quilt. When Taryn discovers the quilt her Grandma has been working on for a wedding to be given to the bride, has been ruined she sets out to put the discarded, started quilt in the attic together. Little does she know what that quilt symbolizes. As she and Justin work together quilting this quilt for the upcoming Christmas time wedding, neither knows the unexpected turn their lives will take, both literally and symbolically.
QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS is an enjoyable story of family and traditions, love, friendships, and regrets. The setting of the Christmas season and the making of a special quilt add to the warm, comfortable feeling of home and family. While quilting is a theme in the book, it is not overly abundant or so overwhelming that a non-quilter wouldn't enjoy reading it. This is an easy- read and one that you can curl up in a big chair with a blanket and a fireplace and just enjoy every word. I have enjoyed all books that I have read so far. Every time I read a new of the Quilts of Love one I think this is my favorite. Well, guess what? QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS is my favorite!
Book Summary
Taryn McKenna believes she’s easy to forget. Abandoned by her parents and left behind when her high school sweetheart joined the army, she vows to never love again and throws herself into her love for the outdoors and the pursuit of a college degree—something no one else in her family has ever accomplished. Her goal, as a young teacher in the hills of North Carolina, is to leave a legacy in the lives of the middle-schoolers she teaches.
When Taryn’s grandmother Jemma, the only other person who ever held her close, has a heart attack that reveals a fatal medical condition, Taryn is corralled into helping Grandma work on a final project—an Irish chain quilt that tells the story of her history and the love Jemma knows is out there for Taryn. As the pieces of the quilt come together, Taryn begins to see her value. Can she learn to believe that God will never leave her behind even though others have?
