SWEET COWBOY CHRISTMAS is Book four in Candis Terry's Sweet, Texas series. This novella has just as much charm as the previous books in the series. Although the book's description describes Chase as a "Scrooge", I really didn't think of him that way while reading SWEET COWBOY CHRISTMAS. He does have an aversion to Christmas, but he's not obnoxious about it. The journey he takes in SWEET COWBOY CHRISTMAS and the love he finds are not due to any Christmas ghosts that warn him to change his ways. Instead, he comes to the decision on his own to alter his path in life.

At the opening of SWEET COWBOY CHRISTMAS, Chase Morgan is a man forced to re-evaluate his lifestyle due to a health scare. I love how Candis Terry gives Chase such a multifaceted personality. Even though he is a wealthy New York executive, that does not define him. He is a Texas country boy at heart and does a lot of introspection in this book. I love that he's not a stereotype. I like that when he comes to Sweet, he tries to blend in and make friends with town locals rather than adopt a snobbish attitude. The banter between him and Faith is electric from the very beginning.

I like that Chase and Faith make their mutual attraction known to each other right away rather than deny it or try to play games. One of my favorite things about SWEET COWBOY CHRISTMAS is that both main characters are intelligent and likeable. While being such a strong woman in every other respect, Faith's insecurities that she has because of a former relationship make her more real. I think Chase is a little quicker than Faith to realize how things truly stand between them. I love that SWEET COWBOY CHRISTMAS defies genre conventions and has the male character move the relationship and emotional intimacy forward. There is a sweetness and sexiness to their relationship that makes the story so enjoyable.

SWEET COWBOY CHRISTMAS is a great love story and says something about hope and the importance of connecting with others. The Christmas backdrop adds a nice element to the story without being saccharine. The story is very character- driven. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
