Darach Grant, son of a bard, is accustomed to bedding willing lasses on his travels, but the McDonald clan take exception and after a fight he has to hightail it out of there. Not only is he unwelcome, but another Highland clan, the Menzies, are set to attack a castle owned by his kin. Life is lively.

THE SWEET SURRENDER OF JANET BUCHANAN shows Janet as a fiery lass whose family steward Ravenglade castle. Her brother Will wants Janet to marry Roddie Menzie to make peace with their clan. Her opinion of the man is scathing. However, living in a castle is better than a crofter's cottage, so she is willing to buy time by pretending to agree. She secretly admires Darach, having patched up his wounds on occasion, but the rogue clearly isn't the right man for her. He doesn't even call by to ask for her company. And where is he when his friends need him?

Darach does in fact arrive, sneaking into the besieged castle by a tunnel, and finds the defenders short-handed and short on food. He's a handy lad, not afraid of a fight but wise enough to count the odds too, and he knows which side he's on. Janet's side. Not her brother's or her would- be suitor's. Shame to marry off such a maiden to a fat pig like Roddie! It's only a castle, and he reckons life outside it would be better than death inside.

With the differing viewpoints we can be royally entertained as we see life in the besieged castle; the danger of fire, the luxurious hangings and blankets, the warm plaid worn to keep in heat. Arrows are used to exchange messages between the forces, but cannons are a ready threat. Deer are in the woods, but going out to hunt carries the risk of being captured or killed. The tensions heighten emotion and the close contact increases the potential for love and passion.

THE SWEET SURRENDER OF JANET BUCHANAN is a lot of fun and will please historical romance fans everywhere, especially if they like the rugged outdoor setting of the Highlands and the strong Scots men and women.

Book Summary

SHE WOULD NOT BE CONQUERED . . .

Janet Buchanan is no man's property. She refuses to marry her family's sworn enemy-consequences be damned. She'd rather take a dagger to the brute herself. Yet when a tantalizing-and infuriating-man from her past comes to her rescue, Janet finds herself undeniably tempted by his hot, hungry kiss.

HE COULD NOT BE TAMED . . .

Notorious for his prowess as a lover and a fighter, Darach Grant has only one goal in mind: to defend his kin's land from the impending siege of a hostile clan. The last thing he needs is the delicious distraction of Janet Buchanan- the only woman who can stir his ire as deeply as she warms his blood. But Janet's intended will stop at nothing to claim her, forcing Darach to choose between surrendering his honor . . . or his heart.
