SOMETHING SWEETER is Book three in Candis Terry's Sweet, Texas series. I have not read the previous books in this series, but was able to follow the story without feeling lost or confused. However, after reading and enjoying SOMETHING SWEETER, I am eager to hunt down the previous books. SOMETHING SWEETER is exactly what I look for in a good contemporary romance -- fun, sexy, and a character- driven story.

After reading the description on the back of the book, I was worried that there might be more conflict than there ended up being. I was hoping that Allison wouldn't be a bitter character and cause trouble for her father's fiancé. Thankfully, Candis Terry wrote a beautiful story with great characters. Allison does come down to Texas to check out his father's new fiancé, but she doesn't have a plan to break them up. She loves her father very much and just wants to make sure he has found the real deal. I really like that, although Allison is skeptical about the existence of true love, she is friendly to all the new couples she is introduced to and doesn't try to rain on their parade. She's skeptical without having a hard cynical edge.

As I read SOMETHING SWEETER, I became just as confused by Jesse's behavior as Allison. Even though he doesn't believe it's his time to settle down, he is bothered by Allison's disbelief when it comes to love and commits himself to showing her evidence of it all around them. This is super romantic and it soon becomes obvious to the reader, if not Allison herself, that he cares more about her than he realizes. As Jesse escorts her on his romantic quest, they grow closer and closer. I love the fact that they grew to like each other and established an emotional bond before anything became physical. The romantic suspense is delicious.

Candis Terry does a great job of establishing who the main characters are and giving them depth. I like Jesse just as much as I do Allison. I understand him better as the story progresses. He's sexy as well as a sweetie. They have a great chemistry and seem like a perfect match. I love that meeting each other acts as a catalyst for their own self- discovery and personal growth. The great supporting characters add to the overall richness of the story and made me love SOMETHING SWEETER.

SOMETHING SWEETER is a sexy romance with great characters and it packs an emotional punch. This is the first book Ive read by Candis Terry, but it will not be my last. I eagerly await more books in this series.
