Harper Beaumont is a wealthy businessman who enjoyed playing the rescuer and is intrigued by the pert beauty that was in distress and he wants more. After she disappears he has enough information to find her again and offer her the chance of a lifetime. Is he really offering his heart? If so he is taking a chance hoping she can see him as a man, a lover and not just as her hero.
CRY WOLF is the perfect book to curl up and let it take you away. CRY WOLF is a Retro Romance reprint, originally published in 1992 under the name Amanda Carpenter, but while reading you will find it is definitely Thea Harrison's work.
The character of Harper could have been written today as a wealthy alpha and fit right in and Nikki isn't the typical helpless damsel; she knows what she wants and not want in life. Part of Nikki's problem is that Harper is emotionally uncommunicative that leads him to not say exactly what he means, though Nikki does manage to pull things out of him. CRY WOLF holds the usual troublemaker and misdirection caused by that person, and an adorable adopted son as secondary characters. Little Charlie, of course, adds to the tug to Nikki's heart strings. Anyone who needs and enjoys a "rescue turns to love romance" CRY WOLF is the one you want to get you hands on.
