Gemma Carlson is a single mother that has sacrificed everything to raise her son right. She has her little book shop and a house of her own. She's got everything she needs, except someone to share it with.
Travis enjoys his life. He's out on the road touring and enjoying the spot light. He gets to do what he loves for a living and enjoy a new woman any time he chooses. His life is great, but there's something missing. The one that got away from him, Gemma.
Gemma has sacrificed everything to raise her son Charlie properly. She's waited nine years to take a little time for herself to attend a book convention in Las Vegas while her son is away at summer camp. With her arms laden with books, a familiar voice asks her if she needs help with her load. You can imagine her shock to find out that the offer came from her first love and now country rock star, Travis Bowers. She agrees to meet with him for lunch, and to later be his date for a charity event.
One drink leads to another and another. They both get hammered and decide, while under the influence, to make their way into a small chapel and tie the knot. Gemma wakes up in the morning with a ring on her finger, and she doesn't quite remember how it got there. She does the only logical thing that she can think of. She runs.
Travis is not about to let her slip away from him again. He sets out after her to try and convince her stay with him. Little does he know, Gemma is hiding a huge secret from him: he has a son that he never knew existed. How can he trust her after keeping his son from him all these years? Will she be able to make him understand how a young girl can make such a huge decision and raise their child alone to allow Travis the life he always wanted? Everyone makes mistakes, right? Will they be able to resolve their differences and try and make their marriage work?
I really enjoyed GOOD GIRLS DON'T DATE ROCK STARS. Just as in the first book, the characters are witty and relatable. The plot builds well. I wish that Gemma would have come clean to Travis about their son sooner. I think it would've saved some trouble and heartache for both of them. But then, we wouldn't have had such a fun story. I liked the character growth in both Gemma and Travis. Her best friend, Gracie, adds to the story as a 'tell it like it is' kind of girl. Michael is the reliable man that's been there for Gemma. He's one that you would always want on your side. I hope to see both Gracie and Michael find their own HEAs. Make sure you set aside time for GOOD GIRLS DON'T DATE ROCK STARS, as you won't want to put it down. I will be sure to grab the rest of the series as well.
Book Summary
Gemma Carlson didn't plan on waking up married.
She also didn't count on running into her old flame—and her son's father-turned-country rock star—Travis Bowers, followed by a night of drunken dares. Apparently one of those involved a ring on her finger and a vow … neither of which she intends to keep. Now with a hangover from hell, this good-girl-gone-bad knows there's just one thing to do: run.
Travis has been all over the world, but Gemma has never been far from his thoughts. So when they had the chance to catch up over a few drinks, he didn't hesitate. Of course, he didn't expect it would lead to marriage, or a runaway bride! Travis finally has a second chance and doesn't plan on losing Gemma again—or the son he didn't know he had. He proposes, albeit belatedly, a date. Or rather, a few. If they can make this marriage work by starting over, he stays. If not …
Gemma's not interested; she's got a son to protect and a heart to heal. But having Travis around could make both a little easier. Still, good girls don't date rock stars . . . right?
