NO SUNSHINE WHEN SHE'S GONE is the newest installment in Kate Angell's fun Barefoot William series. I love reading about the beachside town of Barefoot William. No matter the weather, this series always brings the beach to me -- the feel of the sun, the smell of the great junk food, and the overall feeling of relaxation that comes with hanging out on the beach. Kate Angell does a great job of creating a sense of place with this series.

I liked the dual romance storylines in NO SUNSHINE WHEN SHE'S GONE -- the main romance between Jillie Mac and Aidan Cates, and the secondary romance that develops between Jill's friend and co-worker Carrie Waters and Aidan's friend and co-worker Mike Burke. The romances are very different and go in different directions but are equally as engaging and don't distract from each other.

I love how, at the beginning of the book when Aidan is mentally listing all of the things that bug him about his current female companion, without knowing it yet, he is describing the antithesis of the kind of woman he needs and eventually falls in love with. Their first meeting is unique and amusing. This is the complete opposite of Carrie and Mike's first meeting. While it doesn't take long for Jill and Aidan to get on friendlier terms, Mike acts like a complete jerk when he first meets Carrie. I was able to appreciate how Jill's friendship with Carrie parallels Aidan's friendship with Mike.

The characters in NO SUNSHINE WHEN SHE'S GONE are three-dimensional and make me care about them. The romance is at times sweet and other times extremely hot. I thought it was great that one of the things that make Aidan fall for Jill is how wonderfully she takes care of his dog. I also loved how Carrie and Mike both make each other better people. I enjoyed seeing recurring characters from previous books.

NO SUNSHINE WHEN SHE'S GONE is another fun, sweet, sexy romance by Kate Angell and full of great characters. I look forward to reading more books in this fabulous, beach town series, and other things by Kate Angell.
