Since this book is the second part of a two book series, it is imperative that this series be read in order. Though James loosely fills new readers into the events that have already transpired, the bulk of the story and the emotions entangled with it won't have its full effect unless read in order.

Picking up where the first book left off, Ronin is finding himself at a complete loss. His emotions are a landslide, causing destruction in its wake. The only way he knows how to deal with the emotional pain he feels is to engage in a fight that has left him seriously injured. Once Amery discovers this, her heart softens when she sees him again and she makes the decision to stay with him until he is healed. However, Ronin will not accept her kindness unless she agrees to give him one more chance.

A story about control and second chances, Ronin and Amery must work out their differences in order for them to make their relationship work. However, when both sides demand of each other something that neither want to give, how will they find a balance?

Lorelei James further explores the art of BDSM in this book. Getting more creative and detailed, the sex in this book transcends past a merely physical connection and becomes a spiritual experience for both Ronin and Amery. It is clear that James has done her research and isn't afraid of taking that extra step to bring a new experience to her readers.
