Maggie Gonzalez is David's former lover. He "walked" out on her denying the love that was between them. Since then she has worked hard not to dwell on the pain and past. Unfortunately out in the field, investigating a gruesome murder with Diana Reyes, she is suddenly attacked by some kind of large animal and bitten. Something is terribly wrong because by the time she reaches the hospital she is almost healed. What was that creature that bit her and why is she feeling strange? It's hard enough to believe in vampires but the next thing she must face for herself is impossible to even consider.

Ryder and Diana are now a married couple and the pregnant Diana's health is even more precarious because of it, but she can't stop being who she is. She also knows she and Ryder are the ones who can help her two friends figure out what to do next with what life has handed them and the love they must face.

BORN TO LOVE is an action packed return to author Caridad Pineiro's Vampire Reborn series. We get to watch more of Ryder and Diana's life together as well as revisit David and Maggie. Their story is a touch heartbreaking when you realize why he turned away from her ... it is simple and understandable to a point. I personally wanted to smack him upside the head a couple of times but Ms. Pineiro knows how to handle taciturn men. Their happily ever after comes after a number of interesting twists and turns. I can't wait for the next release in this series, since I have found most everything from this author is a winner.
