BROKEN BLADE begins immediately following Kit's rescue by her friends from her depraved ordeal as the evil vampire Jude's captive. She is weakened and demoralized; drawing into herself and away from her were alpha lover, Damon. Damon gives Kit the space she needs to heal, but makes it plain that he will be there for her when she is ready to fully come back to him in both physically and emotionally.

Once some of the worst of the effects of her captivity begin to lessen, Kit decides that it is past time to take back her life and take on some Private Investigator work. Kit leaves her hiding place and job working in a bar to investigate the case of a girl who has gotten pregnant by a young were in Damon's clan; then a case from a powerful immortal wishing her to find a 'vase' for her. Kit later learns that the wicked immortal, Isodora, has a much more sinister and devious plan in mind than just getting back some lost property. Kit is aided along the way by the excellent secondary cast of this UF story; with a good deal of progress made on getting her personal life back in order.

As book #3, BROKEN BLADE is an excellent addition to this solid series, well written and a highly enjoyable read. J.C. Daniels Urban Fantasy series continues to move along nicely; and the plot of BROKEN BLADE is well thought out and consistent with the overall arc of the Colbana Files series. The subject matter is not quite as dark as in book two, Night Blade; but it does show Kit healing from the nightmare she suffered through in that story and getting a grip on her life and her world. Kit is coming to terms with her ordeal, and getting nearer to pulling her life in order.

The Colbana Files Urban Fantasy series has an ongoing story arc; and as such is best read from the beginning of the series. BROKEN BLADE is not a standalone read, but the series is highly recommended to fans of this genre. J.C. Daniels is a pseudonym for the author Shiloh Walker, who writes excellent Romantic Suspense, Paranormal, and other genres under the more well-known name of Shiloh Walker.
