Gabe Bristow has been forced to retire for medical reasons from the Navy, but he is a SEAL to the bone. So rather than take the Pentagon desk job his Admiral father wants him to take, Gabe gets talked into going into civilian work. He will lead a team with the sole purpose of rescuing hostages; that is, if he can get the team to work together. This is a rush job and the men haven't had any time to work together. Then there is the added problem of the hostage's sister Audrey van Amee getting herself involved with his misfit team and the mission quickly going from bad to worse.
Audrey is a free spirit but she loves her brother and having been on the phone when the kidnapping happened she immediately heads for Columbia. Inexplicably she finds herself in a HORNET's nest, only this time it is a Hostage Rescue and Negotiation Team and the leader is hot! It's her linguistic skills that allow her to stay in their midst and it's so much more that keeps her there.
SEAL OF HONOR is action packed with a lot of funny interplay, a spunky heroine, a very intriguing team of men and best of all ... a Navy SEAL. Simply put I loved this book. The storyline itself keeps you guessing and the characters are at times hilarious and others downright scary in their different abilities. The author gives a little of the plot at a time and you will find you can't put it down because you want to know who the bad guys really are. The shaping of the different characters that makes up the team give readers the feeling that you too are somehow part of the team as they get to know each other. Then of course the added spice between Gabe and Audrey adds a very nice, very hot touch to the whole storyline. I really hope author Tonya Burrows has a few more Hornet Novels up her sleeve because there is a whole team of men deserving stories of their own.
Book Summary
It's a good thing Gabe Bristow lives and breathes the
Navy SEAL credo, "the only easy day was yesterday," because
today, his life is unrecognizable. When his prestigious
career comes to a crashing halt, he's left with a bum leg
and few prospects for employment that don't include a desk.
That is, until he's offered the chance to command a
private hostage rescue team and free a wealthy American
businessman from Colombian paramilitary rebels. It seems
like a good deal—until he meets his new team: a drunk
Cajun linguist, a boy–genius CIA threat analyst, an
FBI negotiator with mob ties, a cowboy medic, and an EOD
expert as volatile as the bombs he defuses. Oh, and who
could forget the sexy, frustratingly impulsive Audrey Van
Amee? She's determined to help rescue her brother—or
drive Gabe crazy. Whichever comes first.
As the death toll rises, Gabe's team of delinquents
must figure out how to work together long enough to save
the day. Or, at least, not get themselves killed. Because
Gabe's finally found something worth living for, and God
help him if he can't bring her brother back alive.
