Bryson Van Amee has been kidnapped and held for ransom by a Colombian guerilla group. After the ransom call comes in, his wife begins to try to gather the ransom; while a private hostage rescue team is sent down to Colombia to try to find him before he is killed. This mercenary group is a rag-tag group of men who are experts in their given field, and are also former military men or government agents. The men are all broken and rejects; and are looking to find their way in a world that no longer seems to need their talents or service. The group is led by Gabe Bristow, a former Navy SEAL.

As the group gathers in Colombia to begin the search for Van Amee, they run across his sister Audrey, who has also come to look for him, and who insists on being part of the operation. As she is proficient in Spanish, Gabe unwillingly takes her with him to interview Bryson's regular limo driver. Once they leave the man's home they are captured by a rebel group, and forced through the jungle as they are taken back to the rebel camp. They escape this group, only to fall into the clutches of one of the most powerful paramilitary rebel factions in the region. This group is led by Luis Mena and a truly evil sidekick. Now, Gabe's rescue team of misfits are not only looking to have to rescue Bryson Van Amee, but also Gabe and Audrey.

SEAL OF HONOR is a very good Romantic Suspense story; fun, sexy, and exciting. Gabe and Audrey have very good chemistry together. The romance was nicely done without overpowering the story; which is well plotted and keeps the reader's attention throughout. The action scenes were exciting and almost non-stop, the plotline solid and with good dialog between the leads. Once the story kicks in, the excitement level rises, and the story becomes hard to put down. The character and traits of the rescue team members were well fleshed out. Each man got enough page time for the reader to get to know them a little better and anticipate each character getting their own book. There are a number of possibilities here for further stories in the Hornet series.

Book Summary

It's a good thing Gabe Bristow lives and breathes the Navy SEAL credo, "the only easy day was yesterday," because today, his life is unrecognizable. When his prestigious career comes to a crashing halt, he's left with a bum leg and few prospects for employment that don't include a desk.

That is, until he's offered the chance to command a private hostage rescue team and free a wealthy American businessman from Colombian paramilitary rebels. It seems like a good deal—until he meets his new team: a drunk Cajun linguist, a boy–genius CIA threat analyst, an FBI negotiator with mob ties, a cowboy medic, and an EOD expert as volatile as the bombs he defuses. Oh, and who could forget the sexy, frustratingly impulsive Audrey Van Amee? She's determined to help rescue her brother—or drive Gabe crazy. Whichever comes first.

As the death toll rises, Gabe's team of delinquents must figure out how to work together long enough to save the day. Or, at least, not get themselves killed. Because Gabe's finally found something worth living for, and God help him if he can't bring her brother back alive.
