When a world famous artist comes to Finch using a pseudonym, Lori is intrigued. Lori appears on the front doorstep the next morning and learns that Amelia is on a quest. Amelia Thistle is the artist's proper name since she married. The names she uses for her paintings is a nickname paired with her maiden name.

The artist comes with a bunch of fanatics who follow her around everywhere. Her reason for coming to Finch is to track down an ancestor. Shortly before arriving in Finch, Amelia's brother passed away. She found his translation of an old diary which has a clue to the identity of a witch who once lived in the area. Amelia is determined to solve her bother's final quest.

As always, it is impossible to keep Lori out of the hunt for the clues.

Ms. Atherton returns us to the village of Finch and the lives of its inhabitants. Reading an Aunt Dimity books is much like returning to a childhood home. We are familiar with the people who live in Finch and all their foibles. Bill and Lori are a lovely couple with a set of twin boys who keep them on their toes.

AUNT DIMITY AND THE VILLAGE WITCH is the first of the Aunt Dimity series which doesn't feature a murder. It is an interesting quest which keeps the readers glued to the page. Since Finch has its share of quirky characters, it's always a pleasure sitting down with one of the books and getting re-acquainted. With the addition of Amelia Thistle and her followers, Finch is momentarily even more exciting than usual. Fans of the Aunt Dimity series won't want to miss this installment. If you haven't read Aunt Dimity, be sure to pick one up.
