In FINDING ABIGAIL, Tyler has been linked with many town ladies but doesn't like love, or Valentine's Day, always resenting the fact that he would eventually become a cupid. He learns to fold the wings away and tries to get on with life. Abigail Clarke meanwhile is twenty-two, a teacher, and determined to move somewhere more interesting than Holiday. She studies, knits' and doesn't date. Life must hold more. Her pal Jordan is a hereditary witch, and she asks Abby to stay, but the girl is fed up with being seen as the schoolmistress. Then Tyler gets a scratch from one of his cupid's arrows, and starts seeing the girl next door in a whole new light - too late?

The premise is clearly for fun, revolving around modern holidays and mixing up ancient myths. However it turns dark as Abby finds herself in danger. Can Tyler find the love of his life, and will he still want her if he does?

This adult romance from Carrie Ann Ryan in her series about Holiday gives us paranormal without the tiresomely familiar - no vampires and werewolves, but a harpy, a witch, a ghost, a cupid and so on. In FINDING ABIGAIL we find a host of minor preternatural archetypes and learn more about them as we go. Who needs stereotypes anyway? Maybe we don't need so much detail in other areas - at times the tale comes across more as an instruction manual than a hot romance - but there is plenty of action and character development. Ryan previously wrote about shifters and angels and is clearly having a lot of fun.
