THROWN BY A CURVE by Jaci Burton

"THROWN BY A CURVE isn't just a homerun -- it clears the bases!"

Star pitcher for the Rivers, Garrett Scott has an injury that could cost him his career. Training and rehab have done nothing to improve his range so desperate times call for desperate measures. When Scott asks Sports medicine specialist Alicia Riley to offer her professional opinion on his injury, Alicia tells him the straight honest truth. He isn't 100% committed to his rehab and as a result, he isn't making enough progress. Startled by the straightforwardness, Garrett finds Alicia's all-business tone inspiring so he trades in his former trainers for Alicia because he knows she will push him to the limits.

Jaci Burton takes on a different approach in the fifth book of the red hot Play-by-Play series. The sex is postponed and Burton focuses a lot on building the romance and chemistry between Garrett and Alicia. With Alicia's all- business attitude, Garrett is stunned to find a woman who doesn't yield to him and his charming ways. Intrigued, he fights this attraction for her but isn't always quite good at reining in his desires. Burton doesn't cut corners in terms of the romance and THROWN BY A CURVE shines because of it. So much so that I would probably go as far to say it's my favorite and strongest of the series! THROWN BY A CURVE isn't just a homerun -- it clears the bases!

In addition to the strong romance, Burton has also created a sense of family between the cast of characters. Regular appearances from past couples never fail to bring a smile to my face. Furthermore, updates on their lives build a familial bond between current characters and past ones. Burton also nicely sets up forthcoming books in the series with tantalizing glimpses of the next heroes! As a result, the series has never been more stronger!

THROWN BY A CURVE is a wicked, sensual thrill from the very first page to the last. Full of steam, erotic sensuality and emotional presence, this is one of those books you read in a single sitting!

Book Summary

She thinks she knows this player—but he has a few surprise moves.

For Alicia Riley, her job as a sports therapist for the St. Louis Rivers baseball team is a home run—until she becomes the primary therapist for star pitcher, Garrett Scott. Out of the lineup with an injury, he’s short-tempered, hard to handle, and every solid inch, a man.

Right now, the only demand he’s making on Alicia is that she get him ready to pitch in time for opening day. Except the sexual chemistry between them is so charged, Alicia’s tempted to oblige Garrett just about anything. But both their careers are at stake—one bad move and it’s game over for both of them.

Garrett also feels the hot sparks between them, and the way he figures it, what better therapy is there than sex? Now all he has to do is convince the woman with the power to make the call.
