Tick, tock, tick, tock, the clock counts down and Pandora races to beat it before it reaches zero and the end of the world. Pandora is not having your typical seventeenth birthday when she clicks a link in an email sent to her from her father that she hasn't seen in years. Her favorite online game is Pandora's Box. When she logs onto it that day, it sets off a cascading whirlwind of events that leaves Pandora and two of the hottest guys from school, Theo and Eli, racing to beat the clock and save the world.
Full of adventures, action and tension, DOOMED is a thrill ride from the beginning. Pandora is a unique, audacious and strong-spirited character, and my favorite of the two boys was Theo by far. I guess I like them tall, dark and brilliant. Deebs' ability to take a myth and spin it with a modern take was incredible. The rich details and complex storyline hook you from the start. In her article on Fresh Fiction, Deebs explains how her in depth incorporation of the different elements of the myth were worked into the story and tells of her diligent research into how society would handle a complete technological breakdown. DOOMED is a fantastic read and I highly recommend it.
Book Summary
Pandora's just your average teen-glued to her cell phone and laptop, surfing Facebook and e-mailing with her friends-until the day her long-lost father sends her a link to a mysterious site featuring twelve photos of her as a child.
Unable to contain her curiosity, Pandora enters the site, where she is prompted to play her favorite virtual-reality game, Zero Day. This unleashes a global computer virus that plunges the whole world into panic: suddenly, there is no Internet. No cell phones. No utilities, traffic lights, hospitals, law enforcement.
Pandora teams up with handsome stepbrothers Eli and Theo to enter the virtual world of Zero Day. Simultaneously, she continues to follow the photographs from her childhood in an attempt to beat the game and track down her father-her one key to saving the world as we know it.
Part The Matrix, part retelling of the Pandora myth, Doomed has something for gaming fans, dystopian fans, and romance fans alike.
