In this latest outing (see Law of Attraction), Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Curtis and Chief Homicide Prosecutor Jack Bailey are investigating the death of a woman who fell from a balcony of the U.S. Capitol. It's clear that the balcony in question opened into the hideaway of long-term congressman Emmett Lionel, delegate from the District. Not surprisingly, Lionel and his staff disavow all knowledge of the incident and immediately bring in their lawyers. Uncovering the truth will be a challenge, especially when the victim is discovered to be one of the city's highest paid escorts. How did she get into the Capital building? Can Anna and Jack build their case without upsetting the balance of power and risking their careers?

With DISCRETION, Ms. Leotta has written a compelling, intriguing, and well-balanced story. The setting, Washington, D.C., comes to life with its diverse population, political intrigue, cultural significance, and seedy underbelly. In the midst of their investigation, Anna and Jack are trying to balance their personal and professional relationships, a situation which builds some interesting romantic tension. The plot is finely craft and kept me guessing until the very end. I absolutely hope we will be seeing more of Anna and Jack in the not too distant future.
