Melina moves in with her father and begins working at a retirement community. She meets a very different set of people than what she is used to, including a very tempting guy named Drew. It seems that no matter how much Melina may want to avoid men, she can't avoid Drew. Even teaching at a school leads her to Drew. Soon, the two have struck up a relationship that moves from friendship to romance very quickly. It might have been nice if the Ms. Cassidy had extended their friendship a little longer before they both decided they were ready for something more. With Melina's broken heart to consider and sudden aversion to intimate relationships, it was difficult to believe she would fall for Drew so quickly. Melina is stubborn and willful, but her hard exterior conceals a warm heart.
Drew was a charismatic character...when he wasn't grumpy. The fact that he had a few believable flaws actually improved his character, making him feel more like the boy- next-door. Melina was a pitiable character. She was cheated on and learned of the cheating in a horrendous way. She made the most of the situation and managed to scrounge as much dignity as she could muster.
If a reader is looking for a strong female lead and a bunch of flavorful secondary characters, then WALTZ THIS WAY is the book you're going to want to add to your shelf.
Book Summary
In her new novel, national bestselling author of Burning Down the Spouse, Dakota Cassidy takes on life, love, and championship ballroom dancing. Get ready to rumba.
Left without a partner...
When former ballroom champion Melina Cherkasov
found out that her famous husband was cheating, she was
devastated, especially since she was informed by a sleazy
reporter on national TV. Thanks to an ironclad prenup and a
scumbag ex, Melina has to pack up her dog and her dignity
and take refuge in her dad's retirement community in New
Jersey.
...it's time to take the lead.
To make ends meet, Melina puts her dancing shoes
to use as an instructor at Westmeyer-a private school for
boy geniuses. Teaching a bunch of hormonal teenagers to
waltz is trying, but the school's sexy handyman provides
ample distraction. Drew McPhee is perfect, except for one
thing: He doesn't like dancing. Thankfully, the finesse Drew
lacks on the floor is more than made up for by his skills in
the bedroom. And after one steamy night, the ballroom diva
is the one getting swept off her feet...
