Patricia Briggs is amazing, and if you've not read all ofher other books, you should. Her Alpha and Omega novels are fantastic. In fact, they've contributed greatly to new works in the paranormal romance field featuring werewolves. The latest installment, FAIR GAME, has Anna Latham attempting to get everyone around her to see reason: her mate, Charles Cornick, is being detrimentally affected by being his father's enforcer. Although he's done the job for hundreds of years, new rules since werewolves came out to the public make punishment more common than the traditional rehabilitation. What's worse is that Charles won't confide in Anna or let her help him. As the pack's Omega as well as his mate, this angers and frustrates her. However, Anna and Charles are given a distraction: to help advise in a serial-killer case in Boston whose last three victims have been werewolves. They are quickly surrounded by official legal politics, wolf politics, and prejudice as they balance the tightrope of werewolf PR, the investigation, and their own personal emotional jungle.

The connection between Anna and Charles is excellently depicted, as is their frustration with Charles' situation. Although Anna's interactions with ancient werewolves Asil and Bran are brief, those scenes are, as always, wonderful. Go read FAIR GAME!

Book Summary

They say opposites attract. And in the case of werewolves Anna Latham and Charles Cornick, they mate. The son-and enforcer-of the leader of the North American werewolves, Charles is a dominant alpha. While Anna, an omega, has the rare ability to calm others of her kind.

Now that the werewolves have revealed themselves to humans, they can't afford any bad publicity. Infractions that could have been overlooked in the past must now be punished, and the strain of doing his father's dirty work is taking a toll on Charles.

Nevertheless, Charles and Anna are sent to Boston, when the FBI requests the pack's help on a local serial killer case. They quickly realize that not only the last two victims were werewolves-all of them were. Someone is targeting their kind. And now Anna and Charles have put themselves right in the killer's sights...
