I am a big fan of contemporary romance and thoroughly enjoyed Candis Terry's debut novel, SECOND CHANCE AT THE SUGAR SHACK. I can't wait for the next book in this trilogy revolving around 3 siblings returning to their hometown of Deer Lick, Montana not long after the unexpected death of their mother. What they don't know is that their mom may be dead, but she's not going anywhere until her children find happiness.

The first sibling facing Mom's heavenly intervention is Kate, who left town (and boyfriend Matt) without looking back years earlier after a vicious fight with her mother. She's left a glamorous life as a stylist to the stars to return home for the funeral. Unbeknownst to her, her siblings have elected her to stay in town to help their father with the family bakery. Suddenly she finds herself stuck in Deer Lick, elbow-deep in flour, and trying to stay out of the way of Deputy Matt Ryan. Matt's given up on "the one" and is looking for the right wife to help him get elected Sheriff. Kate is definitely not on the list, but that doesn't mean that Matt can keep his hands off of her. Will they be able to forgive and forget and find their way to true love?

If you are looking for a new author, take a chance on SECOND CHANCE AT THE SUGAR SHACK. I thought the characters were engaging, and I liked the feel of both the romantic and family relationships. The obstacles they faced were genuine and raised the issue of discovering what you really want in life, and what you are willing to do to get it.
