During a tryst, Baron James Blackwood encounters artist Sofia Eastleigh, a woman not afraid to flirt. Unfortunately James is leaving for Scotland for a much needed break from his duties as bodyguard for Prince Ernst of Dalmia. Sofia falls in instant lust with James and looks for ways to get him in her bed. Before this can happen, the Prince's only son is killed and he remembers his first love who just so happen to have had his child. James is ordered to protect Sofia which makes her off limits as far as he is concerned. But Sofia has plans of her own exclusive of the danger following them. Neither of these two people are looking for permanence yet what will happen when love sneaks up on them?

Steamy sensuality combined with a delightful cast of characters amidst a historical background makes for a captivating read. Fans of historical romances will eagerly devour this scorching tale that is filled with adventure, mystery and, most of all, an exciting love story. The secondary characters only add to this story that I wasn't able to put down, a common occurrence when reading books by this author.
