ALIEN TANGO by Gini Koch

Kitty Kat has been leader of the Alpha Centauri Airborne Division for 6 months now. Her job has ratcheted back some, now that the 'fugly' incursions have died down a bit. Just when she thinks maybe the AC's have a handle on things, orders from the US Government begin yanking the Centaurian Division around, putting them in danger from remarkably stupid terrorists. It just doesn't add up. Adding to the stress level, Kit's next assignment (at Kennedy Space Center) is in the same town as Jeff's parents and there will be no way to avoid meeting them any longer. As most Alpha Centauri parents want their offspring to marry within the AC faith, she already knows it's not going to be a cake walk.

Then things really heat up. A crazed woman is targeting Kat and anyone within 100 yards with massive explosives, something appears to be possessing astronauts, and Consipiracy Theory Charlie shows up at her high school reunion with some great moves on the dance floor just when Jeff Martini begins to give her the brush off.

With the pressures of modern publishing, all too often the second book in the series feels rushed or incomplete. Gini Koch doesn't even come close to falling into the trap of "second book syndrome". It's fantastic to find an author who knows how to deliver a great story every time, who understands kicking ass isn't always enough (although that rocks, too), and can build up the characters through a second story arc while keeping true to the patterns laid down in book one. The action is pounding, the love scenes still hot, and the focus away from the fuglies and onto a danger from within is a great twist on the world created in Touched by an Alien. I am looking forward to Alien in the Family coming April 2011.

Book Summary

It's been five months since marketing manager Katherine "Kitty" Katt started working with the aliens from Alpha Centauri, and she and Jeff Martini are getting closer.

But when an experimental spacecraft is mysteriously returned to the Kennedy Space Center, Kitty and the rest of her team are called in to investigate. Now the team must survive murderous attacks, remove a space entity from a group of astronauts, and avoid an unhinged woman with a serious crush on Kitty's high school boyfriend. And that's all before evil masterminds decide Kitty's extermination is vital.
