The dashing and handsome American, Nate Avery, who's an English spy, arrives in London on a mission. He is charged with retrieving a fortune in jewels stolen from the assistant to the Deputy Collector of Port of New York and to return with the thieving scoundrel. Gaining help from the British government, an enigmatic and petite temptress was not who he expected to be paired with. Angelique Martland is a sexy, riveting, albeit dangerous spy. Together, their battle of wits develops into something entirely different than expected.

Nate is unaware that there are ulterior motives for Angelique's help, and knows she holds a secret concerning her true goal as they pose as husband and wife. The devious search for Jacob Dixon becomes dangerous with secret plotting and conniving to place their plan in order to achieve his capture. Feathers are ruffled and Nate and Angelique are held at odds with their mutual assignment even as they find hot sex in each other's arms. Drugged by their love, schemes and plots are devised to promote Angelique's death in order to ascertain her release from the position of assassin.

This exciting read kept me on the edge of my seat with all the fantastic and imaginative schemes. Fast-paced throughout, this story holds an abundance of mystery, sorrow and their dedication to individual beliefs. Caroline Linden has created an extremely wonderful adventure while still maintaining warm and loving characters.
