The Belle sisters were now in charge of running the High
Five ranch. Two of the sisters were married and their lives
now revolved around their new families but Skylar was firmly
entrenched in the daily operations of the ranch. She and her
daughter Kira just settled in and although the three sisters
were equally responsible for any decisions affecting the
ranch, Skylar had to deal with the day to day problems. And
one of those problems was the foreman Cooper Yates -- whom
she less than affectionately dubbed the ex-con. The sisters
can't understand why Skylar can't get along with the foreman
who was dedicated to running the ranch after the girls
father had died. Skylar's personal life has had its share of
problems. She is consumed with the care of her young
daughter who has juvenile arthritis and without a husband in
the picture she has returned to live at the ranch with her
grandmother. But living with a southern belle grandmother
has its share of issues not the least of them Skylar's own
personality which doesn't come close to being a belle of any
sort. So she threatens to leave the ranch when her wish to
fire Cooper is over ruled by her sisters. But truly she
knows that isn't in the best interest of anyone. So the
burning question is just how she is going to manage around
this man who treats her as if she were invisible. Cooper
can't believe his misfortune. After spending time in jail he
found solace and a new life at High Five. Dane Belle
believed and trusted in him as did the two sisters. Cooper
had met Skylar several times but it seemed obvious to him
that she had no recollection of it. No wonder since she and
her friends had treated him as if he were invisible. Funny
how life works. Now he has to choose between working for
this spoiled party girl or figure out where to go. So with
the toss of a coin his future is decided. Well Cooper knows
how to work for all types -- he'll manage just fine as long
as he maintains a healthy distance, emotional as well, from
his newest boss. What he didn't count on was a little girl
wrapping him around her little finger and gaining a firm
grasp on his heart. A heart he didn't even know existed any
more. Doesn't take a genius to see where his heart will take
him next.
Linda Warren's stories are keepers. You know the kind you
can read over and over again. Warm and fuzzy they introduce
you to people that you could be friends with. So grab a cup
of coffee or tea -- your choice and prepare to be charmed.
Enjoy.
Book Summary
Skylar, the youngest Belle daughter, is known as the
rebellious sister. But her days of sowing wild oats are
over—now her life's about running the family ranch and
keeping her four-year-old daughter safe. And Skylar doesn't
feel very safe around Cooper Yates, High Five's foreman…and
a former criminal.
Cooper can't shake his reputation as an outlaw. Being framed
for a crime he didn't commit is one thing. A stubborn boss
lady making him feel he doesn't belong on the ranch—the only
home he's known in years—is another.
But when danger threatens her child, Cooper has a chance to
show Skylar what really separates the good guys from the bad.
