Aura is the first born after the Shift and like any other child born after the Shift she is able to see and talk to ghosts, which at this point in her life is the best thing to happen to her since she is still able to see and talk to Logan. The hardest part is that she cannot touch him nor can he touch her ever again.

While Aura tries to come to terms with this change in their relationship she continues to work on a secret project to discover what caused the Shift and how to reverse it, except now reversing it is no longer something she wishes to accomplish.

She finds herself teamed up with new student Zachary who has his own secrets and finds herself drawn to him but as long as Logan has not passed on she is not ready to give her heart to someone else. She is also in a fight to protect Logan from going Shade where she will lose all contact with him.

Jeri Smith-Ready's Shade is her first book for YA and is an amazing tender story. The storyline and plot will keep you turning the pages. Regardless if your young or old you will fall in love with this story but fair warning, you may want to keep a tissue or two handy. I cannot wait to see what Jeri brings us with book two.
