Jordan Marsh has begun her new life in Port Chatham, a picturesque town in the Pacific Northwest, or at least she THINKS she has. From the day she arrives at her new home, an historic old house that she means to restore, odd things begin to happen. Beginning with the strange dog that seems to be waiting for her at her front door to the 2 women dressed in period clothing appearing in her foyer, she is wondering if she will ever get anything done. Armed with a plan for her new life, she is more than a bit distracted by Jase, her handsome neighbor and local club owner. When it becomes clear that she can see and talk to ghosts, she is convinced she is losing her mind. However, things take an even stranger turn when one of those ghosts insists that Jordan must solve a murder that happened over a century in the past. Now, Jordan is just as concerned as the next person about clearing someone's good name, but she really does not see how she can possibly help in this situation. Besides, she does not believe in ghosts so how can she even entertain the thought that she is seeing and talking to them? And what on earth is wrong with the people in this town that they find it perfectly NORMAL that she is in contact with ghosts? They are even JEALOUS that she can see and speak to them and they cannot. The dog seems to have adopted her fully and she has no choice but to accept him as her new pet. Of course, he really IS a nice dog, though, and she kind of likes him already. But they do need to agree on a name for him. Yes, Jordan, has a new home, odd though it may be, and she is even warming up a bit to the ghosts. However, she does not see how she can help solve anyone's murder. You see, she has this little problem of her own. She is the prime suspect in her own husband's murder..... This book was SUCH a delight to read! It has a bit of everything. I actually laughed out loud in several parts of the book as there is a great deal of humor interwoven with the underlying mystery. It was a very pleasant book to get lost in and I will be looking forward to reading more of this author's books. My only complaint was that there were a few things that did not get explained by the end and it seemed as if they should have been. All in all, though, that was a very small thing in comparison to the overall pleasure that I gained from spending time with this book.
