Working alone is normal for Elena Deveraux, not only because her job as a Vampire Hunter keeps her busy at all hours, but few understand her unnatural talent to detect them. Her ability to sense a vampire is a major factor in why she's extremely good at what she does, so she hires herself out to owners across the country to retrieve their so-called property. An unexpected summons from Archangel Rafael in Manhattan takes her completely off guard when he specifically asks for her assistance.

Rafael is the Archangel who runs the Manhattan territory with an iron fist by keeping made vampires and their owners under control. Unfortunately, a situation has come up that requires more than what he and his fellow angels can handle. So he turns to the local Guild to contact the only hunter capable of helping them solve the problem. He is greatly impressed with Ms. Deveraux's abilities, but he is not prepared for the intense personal emotions she unknowingly brings to the surface in him.

Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series is a fabulous addition to the paranormal world. Her characters are unique and humorous with the last pages making you want to read more. A definite must read.

Book Summary

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux is hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael. But this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other—and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn’t destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break.
