Senior sleuths Gladdy Gold and her Gladiators return from their recent New York adventure ready for a new challenge. The dynamics of the group are changing with Gladdy embracing a new and permanent relationship with Jack. The girls enjoy having a man around but are miffed at having to share Gladdy. Before they can sort out their differences, two cases land on them.

First, they receive a taunt from the wily bank robber, "Grandpa Bandit," to catch him if they can. Having beaten the cops, Grandpa is now ready to take on the girls. He plans to lead them on a merry chase. But before a serious investigation can begin, a hurricane strikes Fort Lauderdale, causing major damage to their apartment building. Amid the destruction, a 50-year-old skeleton is uncovered. The girls tackle this new case undaunted by the passage of time. The few clues lead them into a maze of memories that haunts one of their members. Gladdy, along with her cohorts, balance the cases as one leads them to a ruthless killer and the other to a self-proclaimed Robin Hood.

Ms. Lakin successfully juggles a humorous storyline with a serious and heartbreaking one. The senior sleuths, with all their lovable and irritable faults, never abandon one another when trouble hits. Instead, they surround their injured member with their protection and love. It's a sheer delight to watch these old friends grapple with old and new problems.

The dapper thief has already knocked over six Fort Lauderdale banks, with no end in sight. It’s up to Gladdy and the girls to stop him before he hits the next one. But when a killer hurricane leads to the discovery of a fifty-year-old skeleton, they have to put the bandit on the back burner. With the storm wreaking havoc and a dark mystery swirling around the Lanai Gardens retirement community, Gladdy and the girls are about to confront a ruthless killer determined to bury the past—and them along with it….
