Mixed into this, Cate is being railroaded into being involved in a shower and wedding for her cousin, Denise. Cate and Ethan do not like Denise's fiancé, Keith, and feel that neither he nor his spoiled children from a previous marriage are good for Denise.
Cate finally finds, through one of many home pregnancy tests, that "they" are pregnant. Both Cate and Ethan's families are thrilled with the prospect of a new baby, but juggling being sick all the time and trying to cope with Denise's wedding arrangements has Cate stressed.
The pregnancy is followed from conception to birth with all the pitfalls and joys of motherhood. The incidents Cate is involved in are interesting and the characters are well- defined. However, I felt a stronger plot would have given the reading more magnetism.
Book Summary
Cate is no longer a permanent bridesmaid. Having found a love of her own with Ethan, she's enjoying newlywed bliss. Life is so much calmer now that the wedding mayhem has subsided. Just one problem: as the last of their friends to marry, Cate and Ethan are now the only ones who don't have a kid, aren't expecting a kid, and aren't even trying. There's not even a bump on the horizon. They were just cozying up to being a twosome, and now there's pressure to make it three. Those carefree bridesmaid days are starting to look good.
