Kate is in her element and there's bloody death, terror and angst to spare. Will Kate survive and come out on top, albeit a little worse for wear? But of course, we expect nothing less of our post-Buffy heroines.

I know, I know, another urban fantasy featuring a bad-ass chick with supernatural powers and a complicated love life mixing it up with vamps and weres. But here's the thing -- if it's well-written and the author keeps you turning the pages, then who cares if some of it seems a bit familiar? There is enough originality here to make for an interesting new world. MAGIC BITES has a solid plot, a little mystery and a brand new heroine to root for. And it looks to be the beginning of a very entertaining new series.
