When Etta River's two-timing husband died in another woman's bed, he left his young widow pregnant and alone on a ranch mired in debt. But on the day of the funeral, a drifter named Johnny Bellah walks into her life. Etta thinks he's just another worthless cowboy, but Johnny has the golden touch as far as raising champion horses is concerned.
