Genny, the main character, is cursed. It's not the normal sort of curse one might think of right away, but a fertility curse. As such, Genny is receiving suitors left and right who are literally vying for her womb. That is not all that Genny must worry about, however, as a murder turns up has her joining forces with the ornery DI (whose ex she is dating). As awkward as the situation is, Genny is determined to solve the mystery and keep all of the suitors at bay. She finds out that solving a mystery is not as easy as it appears and may uncover some other long-forgotten pasts and secrets.

Overall, the author does an excellent job of bringing the reader up to speed on what occurred during the first two books in the series. There are times, however, where the reader will be forced to look back at a scene or two to reread them. The reader will take an instant liking to Genny; she can be funny, sarcastic, and witty. The author does a good job of handling the character dynamics in the book, the reader will have fun watching their relationships shift and change as different events occur. The DI, Helen, clearly does not like Genny and this leads to a few humorous scenes with the potential for "awkward."

The scenes are fast-paced and the plot is enjoyable. The reader will find their attention is sucked in and held from page one, this is not an easy book to put down. Fans of Suzanne McLeod should run to the library or bookstore for this latest installation.
