As it opens Izzy is trying to get her life back on track. She is in need of a new job, but without leaving Chicago and her ex-fiance Sam there's not much chance she'll find something as an entertainment lawyer. Therefore when Jane Augustine, a local newscaster wants to hire her for a new start up network Izzy is more than ready to hop on board.

Knowing next to nothing about how network television works Izzy is going to be learning to be on the go, but when Jane ends up brutally murdered the network turns to Izzy to fill her spot, and she ends up going from novice reporter to lead anchor in a matter of hours!

There are those who are suspicious of Izzy's relationship with Jane, and want to know if there was more to their relationship than Izzy lets on. Izzy knows the relationship was just transitioning from strictly professional to a mixture of professional and friendship, and she's determined to prove who murdered Jane.

As with any good mystery there are plenty of characters to choose from, and lots of twists and turns to make you decide that you know who actually committed Jane's murder. However, there are not so many characters and scene changes as to make the story confusing and hard to follow.

I have now read two of the three Izzy McNeil books, and believe that while they have "cliffhangers" they are satisfactorily ended and can be read independently of one another, but I do recommend reading in order.

Whether the rumor is true or not I don't know, but I've been told that there will be more books in this series, and I can't wait!
